The police are overtaxed with the duies already required to keep our community safe. Going after immigrants under suspicion creates more of an impression of a police state.
This policy would add to the fear already existing in the immigrant community because of arrests and breaking up of families who have come here to work, or who have been here since childhood and consider this their only hme.
Please rescind the secure communities deportation plan.
    Thanks you.

This initiative “Secure Communities” is destructive to the image and history of New York State as a welcoming port for legitimate immigrants. Moreover, it encourages law enforcement agencies to exceed their authority, –AND it has been instituted without the knowledge of the Monroe County legislature—definitely a breach of protocol. Please stop this contradiction of justice.

It is hard to believe, but we seem to be becoming a police state. Please rescind the agreement re: “secure communities.”

The United States of America from its original establishment has been a nation of immigrants. Instead of pursuing and deporting immigrants who have no desire to remain “illegal,” our government needs to facilitate the process of eligibility for full citizenship for these immigrants, who have no desire to remain illegal–only to remain here!
